PAINTING STORY

During ceremony on the Tiwi Islands a series of ‘yoi’ (dances), are performed; some are totemic and show a narrative of newly composed songs. Participants in these ceremonies are painted with turtiyanginari (the different natural ochre colours), transforming the dancers and, in some cases, provide protection against mapurtiti (spirits). These significant artistic designs collectively are called ‘Jilamara’.

What an absolutely beautiful shirt. I was blown away by the material, and the artwork. I've been bragging to my family and friends; it arrived by express mail and the packaging it came in was very professional. I went back on Azure Beach website again, and have bought another 2 shirts, 1 dressy and a polo, these 3 items have taken pride and place waiting to be worn for special occasions...
