Gadi
NAIDOC Week 2026
This artwork is guided by the Rainbow Serpent, a powerful creator who moves through Country, carrying life, knowledge and culture across generations. I was drawn to the Rainbow Serpent as a way to represent 50 years of NAIDOC as one continuous journey, shaped by community, strength, and connection.
The flowing pathways reflect how our stories travel through time, honouring those who came before us while making space for the generations rising today. Throughout the artwork, five handprints acknowledge the 50 years of NAIDOC and the many people who have helped build this movement, showing up year after year with pride and purpose.
Songlines radiate across the design, symbolising shared history and the deep connections between people, culture, and Country. Animal tracks weave through the piece, grounding the artwork and reminding us that our journey has always been guided by Country.
Gadi celebrates 50 Years of Deadly as a living legacy. It honours survival, resistance, and pride, while recognising that culture continues to lead us forward. Still deadly. Always.
